Zoning By-law Amendment and Official Plan Amendment applications have been submitted to the City for 50 The Driveway, the head office for the Canadian Nurses Association. The proposed development features a 9-storey residential building with 66 dwelling units and 100 underground parking spaces. Currently, a 4-storey residential building is permitted on the site.
The existing building does not currently have any heritage designations or protections. However, through the Centretown Heritage Study, 50 The Driveway was recommended to be considered for designation under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act. The applicant proposes to retain and relocate a portion of the existing building to be integrated into the new development, but the whole building will not be repurposed.
