City seeks input to the Solid Waste Master Plan

The City wants public input on the development of Ottawa’s Solid Waste Master Plan.

The goal of Engagement Series 1 is to gain feedback from residents and stakeholders on the vision, guiding principles, goals and objectives for the Waste Plan. Staff are also seeking feedback on the current and desired future state of waste management in the city.

This feedback will be used to inform the options outlined in the Waste Plan, which will be presented to Council in the Phase 2 Solid Waste Master Plan report in Q4 2020. In order to seek direct input from the public on the above noted goals of Engagement Series 1, a survey is posted to Engage Ottawa for residents and stakeholders to complete starting Wednesday June 3 rd 2020.

The survey will be promoted through social media and a feature story on Ottawa.ca. In addition to the survey, the following tactics will be used throughout Engagement Series 1 to obtain feedback on the waste plan:

• Vision and guiding principles workshops with key stakeholder groups including the Council Sponsors Group, City Champions Group, Stakeholder Sounding Board and Solid Waste staff were completed in May 2020;

• Online dialogue sessions with a range of stakeholders and residents will take place in June 2020;

• Online focus groups with members of Equity and Inclusion groups will take place in June 2020; and

• Forums, ideas and questions pages will be active for all residents and stakeholders to participate in through Engage Ottawa throughout June 2020.
