Before joining Council in 2014, Catherine was a Senior Advisor to the City of Ottawa's Deputy City Manager (Operations), responsible for: fire and ambulance services, housing, daycare, parks arts and culture, drinking water, wastewater management and public transit.
She has spent most of her career working directly for Ottawa residents, having served as Policy Assistant to Councilors Diane Holmes (Somerset) and Alex Munter (Kanata) and Legislative Assistant to the Members of Parliament for Ottawa Center, Ed Broadbent and Paul Dewar.
She has also been Public Policy Manager at Volunteer Canada and Regional Manager of VoicePrint, an organization that provides print media in accessible formats to people with visual impairments.
In her first term of Council Catherine demonstrated her strength and tenacity in advocating and fighting for Somerset Ward and a healthy city for all.

Secured ongoing funding for Pride
Protection of residential character of Preston Street North
Multi-Use Pathway completed along Trillium Line
Washrooms in 2 LRT Stations
Advocated for a Low-Income Bus Pass
New pathway link to bus stops on Slater Street
Trees planted in Silva Cells on Metcalfe and Frank Streets
New accessible play structures and playground at Dundonald Park
Traffic calming measures on several streets throughout the ward
Working with five BIAs to ensure that our Mainstreets and local businesses are healthy
Spearheaded Rochester Heights redevelopment
Successfully secured a crossing guard on Elgin Street
Pushed for a Laurier Bike Lane safety audit
Winner: LGBTQ Youth Role Model from Day of Pink (CCGSD)
Refurbished entrance to Jack Purcell CC to make it accessible
Delivered the Chaudier Park extension on Elm St.
Widened Nepean St sidewalks between Bank and O'Connor
Held a community Trans Inclusion Panel and worked with the City Manager's office on another panel with managers
Worked closely with the local Member of Provincial Parliament on legislation guiding OMB reform, School Safety Zones and Inclusionary Zoning
Committed to infrastructure funding and renewal of McLeod and Arlington Streets
Worked with the local community association to establish the Off Bank Community garden
Secured red light cameras at 2 locations
Successfully advocated for 4 new pedestrian crossings
Delivered on promise for a new fenced area for dogs at McNabb park
Established Gender neutral washrooms at City Hall
Worked for a ban on sale of dogs & cats in pet shops
Worked to secure a permanent location for the mural honouring murdered trans women of colour.
Brought a motion to Council to establish a memorial fountain at City Hall for victims of impaired driving
Successfully bargained for $200k in community benefits from 180 Metcalfe development
Led Council report to name the McNabb skateboard park after Charlie Bowins
Worked with the Vietnamese community to name Saigon Square at the corner of Somerset & Preston
Led fight against community mailboxes
